Health & Wellness

READY program students have more opportunities to pursue wellness and fitness due to grant support from The American Cancer Society and Presence Health Care. A workout room, exercise classes and off-campus hikes have been developed. Prosperity Gardens and the READY program have been collaborating on wellness and nutrition education for a year now. A nurse meets with 20 students weekly to help them reach their fitness and nutrition goals.

A small Farm-to-school effort is also contributing to more nutritious meals at READY. In the fall of 2013 students and staff said good-bye to institutional school lunch and started cooking meals from scratch. Each day breakfast and lunch are prepared for and by students and staff. Some of the new menu items include butternut squash soup and homemade salsa, all harvested from our gardens on First Street. More nutritious meals are making their mark.
